Drywall, mold and the alternative to bleach.
Drywall can be a messy problem especially for Southerners dealing
with constant humidity. If you are like me you most likely would do
anything to avoid using bleach. Yet often times bleach seems to be
the only answer. Not only is bleach smelly, toxic and bad for you to
breath but it is also not the best mold care. Bleach does not Kill
mold. So what are some bleach alternatives that are safe with no
toxic fumes? Please check the list below.

Vinegar.
Vinegar is safe to use with no Toxic
fumes to inhale and burn your chest. Vinegar is a mild acid and
kills 89% of the mold lurking in your home. So how do you use
Vinegar to kill mold safely removing it from your home?
Vinegar
is very inexpensive and can be purchased at your local supermarket,
walmart, target etc.
*Make sure to purchase white distilled
vinegar.
*Take a spray water bottle, pour vinegar into the
bottle and water it down just a little bit to dilute.
*Spray the
vinegar onto the moldy surface and leave to sit for anywhere from
30-60 minutes depending on the thickness of the mold.
*Wipe clean
and allow the surface to dry. The smell from the vinegar will clear
up in about an hour.
Easy as that.

Hydrogen Peroxide.
Hydrogen
peroxide is an anti-fungal, ant-bacterial, ant-viral which makes
this a perfect alternative to bleach. Hydrogen Peroxide is
also a smart alternative because
it does not destroy the environment, leave behind toxic fumes or
irritating residue. H.P like vinegar is very inexpensive and can be
purchased just about anywhere. H.P is an effective mold killer on
clothes, walls, floors, counter tops, bathroom fixtures, and kitchen
appliances. Sound good? Great lets get started cleaning and killing
mold with Hydrogen Peroxide.
*Pour 3% concentration hydrogen
peroxide into a spray water bottle.
*Spray the moldy
surface completely so that the moldy areas are saturated with
hydrogen peroxide.
*Leave the surface to sit for 10 minutes
while the hydrogen peroxide kills the mold.
*Scrub the area with
a scrub brush or sponge to make sure to remove all the mold and mold
stains.
*Wipe the surface down to remove residual mold.
Hydrogen Peroxide makes a safe cleaning tool for Mold, as well

Baking soda.
Baking
soda is another common household item that is known for being a safe
cleaning alternative. Baking soda is often used as a household
cleaner, and it also kills Mold and everything nasty mold brings
with it. Baking soda is safe for humans and pets. Baking soda is
often combined with vinegar since vinegar kills a multitude of
species of mold. Ready to get started killing mold with baking
soda,alright lets go.
*One quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda
to a spray bottle of water.
*Shake the bottle to dissolve
the baking soda into the water.
*Spray the moldy area with the
baking soda and water.
*Take a sponge or scrubbing brush to make
sure to remove all the mold from the surface.
*Once you've
scrubbed away the mold rinse the surface with water to remove any
residual mold on the surface.
*Spray the area with the spray
bottle again and let the surface dry. This will kill any left over
mold and prevent the mold returning.
You can use a cloth instead
of a spray bottle to clean mold with baking soda, just soak a cloth
in water and then add one quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda to
it.
Use the cloth on the moldy area to remove the mold with the
baking soda and water solution.
These are a few natural solutions to killing mold. Drywall is a pain to make repairs on and mold can do serious damage over time to your drywall. Take preventative measures to make sure the mold does not spread and save your money for better things rather than spending time and money repairing moldy drywall.
