- Desired Base Coat
- Faux Glaze
- Roller with 3/8" nap and paint tray
- Natural Sea Sponge
- Painter's tape for masking
- Drop cloth to protect your floor.
- Optional- Sea Sponge roller to cover a larger area quickly.
Ok, so lets started. SPONGING ON:
- Before you begin, with the masking tape you bought, mask off all areas that are not to be painted such as light switches, electrical outlets, baseboards etc. Do not forget to also lay your drop cloth down to protect your floor. Now apply your base coat with a roller to the entire wall/walls desired. Allow to dry over night.
- Rinse the natural sea sponge in water to soften and wring it out well. Dip the damp sea sponge into the Glaze, squeeze out and blot the excess glaze.
- Lightly pounce the surface with the sea sponge, working quickly in small areas so the glaze does not accumulate. Change position of sponge often to keep the finish subtle and natural looking. To reach tight areas use smaller sponge.
- To increase intensity and visual appeal use different color glazes in your sponging, follow the same steps just discussed. This is a great way to change things up a bit.
