Drywall | Spotting Nails
Spotting nails is not a complicated task but is essential for the final look.
Having the nails spotted in necessary on every drywall job. Using a 4" or 6" drywall knife you will get a lump of mud on your knife swipe the nail and then scrape the mud off, and move onto the next nail.
What this does is create a thin film over the nail creating a smooth finish for texture and then painting.
The process goes more or less like this:
(Other things such as electrical wiring and A/C ducts are also included in this part of the construction but we'll just stick to the point)
*After the walls are framed in, insulation is added.
*After insulation comes the hanging of the drywall.
*After hanging the drywall it is then taped and floated- sealing the joints.
This is also the same time nails are spotted.
*Texture is then applied and the wall is ready to be painted.
As you can see in the picture, the walls have been prepped and are ready for texture.
